DGM-16979

DGMGRL> START OBSERVER;
[P001 07/03 07:24:51.74] Authentication failed.
DGM-16979: Unable to log on to the primary or standby database as SYSDBA
Failed.

 

In Oracle 11 you should only recreate password file on the Primary. Then move the new copy to the Standby(s).

If you recreate password files on both it will error.

ORA-01017

Change the sys password in the primary database using the alter system command, it updates the password file in the ORACLE_HOME of the primary database, it doesn’t update password file in the standby database.

 

[oracle@dg dbs]$ rm -rf orapw*
[oracle@dg dbs]$ orapwd file=orapworcl password=oracle

[oracle@dg dbs]$ orapwd file=orapwsbdb password=oracle ignorecase=y
[oracle@dg dbs]$ cp orapwsbdb orapworcl

 

DGMGRL> conn sys/oracle@orcl
Unrecognized command “conn”, try “help”
DGMGRL> connect sys/oracle@orcl
Connected.
DGMGRL> show configuration

Configuration – conf1

Protection Mode: MaxAvailability
Databases:
sbdb – Primary database
Error: ORA-16820: fast-start failover observer is no longer observing this database

orcl – (*) Physical standby database
Error: ORA-16820: fast-start failover observer is no longer observing this database

ERROR

DGMGRL> start observer
Observer started
